Trend: The light blue polish

A midweek post; what's going on?
Recently, a few brands have brought out Spring nail polish collections.  The running theme?  Light blue.

These blue hues are not your typical baby blue but a super pale, almost white blue.  Usually pastel toned and perfect for adding a bit more colour.

Rita Ora has recently released her collection for Rimmel, it consists of five colour rush balms (£5.99) and twelve nail polishes (£3.69) all in very bright, standout colours.  Not many of the other nail polishes really grabbed me but after seeing the Spring collection from Deborah Lippmann (see below) and the new colours of gelly polishes from Barry M I thought that 'breakfast in bed' might make a good dupe (very 'breakfast at Tiffany's').
I can't compare it to the Deborah Lippmann polishes because I haven't tried them, but in terms of colour it is most alike 'flowers in her hair' but slightly more green toned.

I love the Rimmel 60 seconds nail polishes simply because they dry quickly and have a wide, flat brush which makes it super easy to paint your nails in a few swipes.  However, the formula is quite streaky and you will need a good 3 coats, it's also not quite as smooth or glossy as I would have liked but a good top coat solves that.  On closer inspection I also found that this colour has a teeny tiny amount of shimmer in it, not what I was initially going for but a welcome addition.  In terms of wear, its not bad but not that great either.  These lasted 3 days before any chips appeared.
For the price you pay, these polishes really aren't all that bad, not the best I have tried but still.  This shade makes a lovely transition colour into brights for the Spring/Summer season and I am pleased to inform you that I have had quite a few compliments on my nails over the past few days.

I hope you enjoyed this spontaneous midweek post.  What light blue will you be wearing this spring?
